Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Dilip Ghosh, the former president of the West Bengal BJP, has made it clear that he will not compromise with leaders within the party who are former members of the Trinamool Congress (TMC). This statement comes amid growing tensions and controversy surrounding his recent visit to the newly constructed Jagannath Temple in Digha, where he also met Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Ghosh’s actions have led to criticism from some BJP leaders, who accuse him of aligning with TMC.
Ghosh’s stance was communicated during a meeting with senior leaders of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at their state headquarters ‘Keshav Bhavan.’ He discussed the internal situation within the BJP, pointing out that many of the voices raised against him are from leaders who had previously defected from the TMC to the BJP. Ghosh expressed his firm belief that he would not make any compromises with such individuals, stressing his commitment to the BJP and the ongoing battle for the party’s direction.
Further discussing the tensions, Ghosh made it known that his entry into the BJP was facilitated by the RSS and that if the organization wished, they could recall him from the party. He also requested the RSS to address the situation within the BJP, specifically focusing on the leaders undermining him. Ghosh emphasized that he would continue his political struggle on his own terms, without aligning with those he deemed as political opportunists.
The internal rift within the BJP deepened when Ghosh was excluded from both the core committee and extended meetings of the state BJP. Despite this, state BJP president Sukanta Majumdar denied reports of any internal divisions, asserting that while differences might exist, the party's focus remains on removing TMC from power. Majumdar's comments were aimed at quelling speculation about infighting and reaffirming the BJP’s unified goal in the state.
